Born and raised in Pennsylvania’s beautiful Amish farmland, Brian knew at a very early age that his calling in life would be to either become a farmer or an artist. Having no idea how to grow anything, he decided to make his way to the big city and try his hand at living the life of an illustrator. In the days and years before computers had replaced pencils and paintbrushes as the artist’s tools, Brian worked and struggled to make a decent living as an illustrator in the theme park industry. Here he learned the valuable skills of drawing while creating countless storyboards and design specs by hand.
But in the years to come the lure of making a salary decent enough to afford eating and living indoors, called to him so he entered the then new world of computer video games. Brian quickly excelled in this and grew as an “electric” artist, utilizing all of the traditional skills he had learned in the past to now making great games and educational products for kids. His portfolio grew quickly showcasing a strong emphasis in creating fun, colorful art for a variety of children’s projects, some of which included illustrated storybooks, educational teaching materials, as well as stickers, posters and games.
Brian now lives in the sprawling suburbia of western Los Angeles, along with his two roommates, four dogs, six puppies, nine cats, four chickens and a driven desire to continue working as the artist he always wanted to be. As he goes to sleep each night he knows that with each new day there will be unforeseen yet exciting challenges, new ideas and always more dog crap to clean up.
Hi GumOnTheLens! Yes, I worked on Heroes III, IV, & Might & Magic VI,VII,VIII for New World Computing. Were you a fan of these series? It was a lot of fun working on them and a great learning experience. BK
I was, very much so! I played those with my dad when I was around 7 and up, and I still load a few of them up every now and then. Might & Magic is one of my favorite franchises and I hate that party-based adventure games like it don't exist anymore. My dad still plays Heroes IV on a regular basis, as well.
